Improvements to the Gamstop national self- exclusion network have seen the creation of ten new jobs at one small IT support company in Leeds. Gamstop awarded its latest partnership contract toThe Data Shed,which has taken on new staff to improve the speed and rigour of checks made on new players signing up to the UK’s online gambling sites. Gamstop was launched as a free self-exclusion service inApril of last year,and offers vulnerable gamblers the option of a blanket exclusion across all gambling operations - rather than forcing them to self-ban with each individual company. The service was greeted by an initial wave of 50,000 sign-ups:however,its effectiveness was quickly called into question when a BBC investigation found that many of its adherents were merely changing their user information in order to continue to gain access to gam- bling content.
