Fantasy Island’s new attraction Harrington Flint’s Island Adventures is set to take the park in “a whole new direction,” according to owner James Mellors, as the adventure-themed dart ride attracts families from near and far.

Customers formed long queues on 22 July in order to try out the attraction for the first time, with acting chair of Ingoldmells Parish Council Leonard Hemingway cutting the ribbon alongside Flint himself.

“The adventure begins here and brings the pyramid alive in a way that has not been explored before,” owner James Mellors told Lincolnshire World.

“Our other rides are exciting in their own right – and we have new ones to come – but this adventure is set in the pyramid and is themed in a way that takes us in a whole new direction.”

Mellors added that ideas for characters suggested by his own children had been part of the inspiration for the ride, as well as trips to Disney and Universal Studios, noting “we wanted to bring a touch of that to the East Coast and I feel like we’ve done it.”

“People need to get to know the character to love the character. That’s why we made the children draw the characters, so eventually there will probably be teddy bears and toys of the characters because people will have their favourite one.”
