Mumbles Pier has opened its new bar and outdoor seating area, part of a £300,000 investment in securing the Grade II-listed structure’s future.

Mumbles Pier has unveiled the latest improvements at the award winning attraction with a new bar and outdoor seating area opened in time for summer. The newly redecked space forms part of long-term investment in refurbishing and maintaining the Grade II-listed landmark.

Following extensive repairs to the pier’s steel supports in March, the new deck was opened last weekend, offering visitors the opportunity to enjoy unimpeded views across Swansea Bay.

“We are super proud to have our new bar and outdoor seating area open for everyone to enjoy,” said a pier spokesperson on 9 July. “Our outdoor seating area isn’t just some new tables and chairs but it is a £300,000 investment in the redevelopment of our Victorian Pier.”

“This phase in renovation included replacing, refurbishing and safeguarding the under structure of the Pavilion building for many years to come. This renovation work has been entirely funded by the trading business at Mumbles Pier. We work hard to ensure our little part of history is future proof.”

The opening of the new area was welcomed by local residents and tourism stakeholders, with a spokesperson for the West Cross councillor team stating: “It looks amazing, and perfect for the hot summer weather,” while Marie Williams from The Holiday Village simply commented “stunning.”

The area is part of a larger programme of works planned by the pier, including the construction of two pavilions housing retail units and a cafe, the opening of new public toilets, an access bridge for the lifeboat house, and new gates at the pier entrance.
