Manning’s Amusements’ Beach Street Felixstowe has been named as a finalist for New Tourism Business of the Year in the East of England Tourism Awards 2021-2022.

Beach Street Felixstowe, the brainchild of the Manning family, has been shortlisted as one of the New Tourism Business of the Year in the East of England Tourism Awards 2021-2022.

If successful, the shipping container-based retail and leisure hub run by Manning’s Amusements will go on to the finals of the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.

“We are insanely happy and proud, grinning ear to ear,” said a spokesperson. “A huge thank you to everyone who has helped us get this far and make Beach Street such a huge success in its first year, and also being set up through a turbulent environment of covid and uncertainty!”

“We are in the top five of the new tourism businesses in The East of England Tourism Awards, fingers crossed for the final event.”

A “glittering black-tie event” announcing the winners will take place at Imperial War Museum Duxford on 24 February, with the celebration raising money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities UK.

The winner and top two highly commended businesses in each category will then go on to the finals of the VisitEngland Awards for Excellence.

“The hard work put in by businesses and staff to keep the sector operating has been exceptional,” said Visit East of England chair Andy Wood. “We happily put a smile on our faces for our customers, and there’s certainly more reason to smile in 2022.”

“That’s why it’s important that we champion and celebrate our visitor economy – and that’s what the East of England Tourism Awards are all about.”

In competition for the title, Beach Street Felixstowe is up against fellow finalists LandyCampers, Old Buckenham Country Park, Rayne Heritage and Watatunga Wildlife Reserve.

“It feels great to be recognised at such a high level,” said a spokesperson for Manning’s. “All the hard work is rewarded.”
