In a four-decade gambling sector career Nick Harding has worked across multiple industry verticals from betting to bingo, single site to seaside attractions and arcades to adult gaming centres. In his latest adventure he’s applying his commercial nous to the coffee shop brand Paddy & Scotts.

Nick Harding, one of the pioneers of providing machine players with a great cup of coffee as part of their adult gaming centre experience, has been named as non-executive director at the coffee shop brand Paddy & Scotts.

Nick, who last year formed the Spray Lakes Consultancy which matches senior gaming industry specialists with hiring businesses accommodating consultancy, part-time and non-exec roles told Coinslot: “Having worked in the high-volume low stake gaming sector for many years I have been interested in spreading my wings a little. Through the Sounding Board initiative, I have more recently worked – on a pro bono basis – with a number of businesses completely outside of gambling and you quickly realise how transferable a little commercial nous can be.

“Taking an overview of a business without any granular knowledge can often be very productive and helpful to the management team as you can drill down into the ‘whys and hows’ of the business and ask questions without the appearance of being a know all.”

He added: “Sitting alongside a great brand and a great team is their approach to sourcing and importing some of the finest coffees in the world and that is underpinned by their own coffee farm in Kenya where a proportion of the profits are diverted towards rebuilding local schools and providing school meals for children in the local area. These people really talk the talk and walk the walk. I am delighted to be involved in what is going to be an exciting journey.”
