David Purvis: ‘Industry needs a successful EAG and securing later dates was the best and most sensible option’

Blueprint MD David Purvis believes postponing EAG was the right call by the organisers but with four new cabinets to launch and the opportunity for customers to buy direct from the brand – he can’t wait for the UK showpiece to open in March.


David Purvis, Managing Director of Blueprint Operations, has welcomed the decision to re-schedule the 2022 edition of EAG from January to March describing it as the ‘best and most sensible response’ in the current circumstances.

He stated: “Despite the latest data suggesting that infection levels caused by the Omicron variant may have plateaued in London the operative word in all of these discussions is ‘may’. As the business community and society at large are consumed by uncertainty the best option in my opinion was to find alternative show dates that reduce the stress points for visitors, exhibitors as well as the support staff working at the ExCeL Exhibition Centre. The industry’s first priority and responsibility has to be to the health and security of customers and staff and I’m not entirely confident that would have been possible had the organisers’ gone ahead with the original January dates.”

Confirming Blueprint’s commitment to EAG David Purvis added: “After what was a highly successful ACOS the team is committed to continuing the momentum at what is the most important inperson event that’s dedicated to the UK industry. The ability to physically interact with games and cabinets is central to the sales and marketing function and we are really looking forward to launching our four new cabinets and being able to talk through the exceptional income figures that are being recorded by the Ultramax cabinet across all sectors but most notably in single sites.

“EAG also provides us with an opportunity to promote and explain the benefits of the restructure of our corporate account management and sales function which provides operators with the opportunity to buy direct from Blueprint. The restructure, which enables customers to draw on the support of a dedicated account management resource, is being extremely well-received by the industry following its pre-Christmas launch.”
