The owners of Mr P’s Classic Amusements have hinted that the much-anticipated reopening of Maidstone Reel Fruits will be confirmed “very soon,” as Operation Stack continues at its Bognor venue.
Teasing the date via social media, Dave and Amelia Douglas stated the announcement will come as a surprise to long-term fans of the arcade, as Mr P’s looks ahead to the “warm months” of 2022.
“Very soon we will make an announcement that will surprise, and possibly shock you all,” said Dave Douglas. “We are honourable to our word, and will be announcing the re-opening of our Maidstone Reel Fruits, with a firm date.”
“However, like any news, there will be a twist in the tale, and the news we will announce has been something that Amelia and I have touched on previously.”
Commenting on the reopening progress, Douglas added: “Those of you who have been to Bognor recently will see ‘operation stack’ outside the arcade.”
“These are a wealth of machines that we are currently working on, refurbishing and selling through our Reel Fruits brand. It is a little crazy but is vital to clearing Maidstone for the setting up of there.”
Though positive about Mr P’s’ future, Douglas also addressed the news of the new Omicron variant, stating “we must all look out for each other and stand tall.”
“There is going to be tougher times ahead, as we all could foresee, but time will pass and warmer months lie ahead.”
