Burnham-on-Sea Pier is enjoying something of a renaissance this year, with a recent surge in positive reviews on TripAdvisor prompting a re-evaluation of the compact landmark from both residents and holidaymakers.

Shortly after being ranked the second-most Instagrammed pier in the UK by Envirofone in July, the pier made headlines again, albeit for unfortunate reasons, when the pavilion caught fire, however visitors have been undeterred in their appreciation. “Burnham-on-Sea Pier, famous for being the shortest in Britain at just 37 metres long, has been earning recent compliments from visitors for bringing back the taste of classic British seaside holidays,” reported Somerset Live.

“The pier has not always had the easiest time of things, and has earned some criticism from the community in the past. However, the onset of the Covid pandemic and the resultant trend towards staycation British holidays seem to have injected life back into the site.”

Recent reviews on TripAdvisor include “a cute little pier and seaside town that screams ‘British seaside resort’,” and “nice pier in a nice seaside town,” while another states the pier “has everything you could ask for.”

“We visited on a particularly windy day and ended up in the arcades for most of the morning,” added user Steven Kew from Billericay. “Our two boys loved it!”
