Thousands of pounds were stolen from Star Amusements in Rayleigh earlier this month, after a man entered the Eastwood Road venue and threatened staff at knifepoint.

The incident took place during the evening of 8 November, with Essex Police now seeking a man pictured on CCTV at the scene in order to provide “important information.”

“A man is said to have walked into an amusement arcade around 9pm and threatened a member of staff with a knife,” reported the Echo. “He then left with thousands of pounds worth of cash.”

“Police say no one was injured in the incident.”

Officers published a CCTV still of the man they wish to speak to this week, releasing an image of a person of interest in a grey flat cap, chequered shirt, dark grey jacket and disposable facemask.

Though the authorities have not revealed categorically whether the individual pictured is suspected of perpetrating the robbery, or whether he was simply a witness, the police have urged those with further information to come forward.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101, citing incident 1196 of 8 November,” added the report. “You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously.”
