Blackpool Pleasure Beach has unveiled a teaser video on social media which hints at a new addition to the popular Icon roller coaster set for 2022.

The 15-second clip features the word “Enso” alongside a spinning wheel of red petals, and the cryptic slogan “Icon with a twist.”

“The popular park hasn’t made any other announcements, leaving fans to wonder what the video could mean,” reported Lancashire Live. “Some have speculated about the meaning of the title ‘Enso’, which means circle in Japanese.”

“But for now the details remain under wraps.”

The post, which appeared on the Blackpool Pleasure beach Facebook page on 5 November, soon attracted over 130 comments, with followers attempting to guess the meaning of the announcement.

Suggestions ranged from the installation of a new ride to the addition of spinning carriages, with many citing the spinning gondolas manufactured by Mack Rides, which was responsible for building the Icon in 2017.

When it launched in 2018, Icon was the UK’s first double launch roller coaster and the first brand new coaster at the park in 24 years, dropping riders 82 ft at speeds of 52.8 mph.

The latest announcement comes as the Pleasure Beach seeks to capitalise on increased domestic visitor numbers with new additions to its ride offering.
