Two staff members at Majestic Bingo’s Globe Club in Donnington have been presented with the company’s “rare and prestigious” Managing Director’s Award, after saving the life of a passer by.

Having discovered a woman outside the club who had attempted to take her own life, Paula Boddison and Jess Stubley were able to clear the woman’s airways and place her in the recovery position while awaiting paramedics.

“People define businesses and today I had the honour of spending time with two very special members of my team,” said MD Mark Jepp.

“Paula Boddison (Paula the Caller!) and Jess Stubley (Duty Manager) literally saved a passer-by’s life by ensuring their First Aid skills came into play whilst they waited for the emergency services.”

Hailing Boddison and Stubley as “fantastic,” Jepp noted that they both remained with the woman for over an hour while waiting for the ambulance, even restarting her breathing after it had stopped.

Following the incident, Jepp visited the Donnington venue on 9 November in order to present the Managing Director’s Awards personally, offering both staff members “a huge thank you from everyone at Majestic for your care and quick thinking.”
