Paul Monkman, Gaming & Service Director, Luxury Leisure Talarius Ltd and RAL Ltd, spent two days surveying the ACOS horizons and he was impressed with the industry’s return to action. He talks to Coinslot about the show, the products and what lies ahead.

Coinslot: As a leading national operator, how did you view the show?

Paul Monkman: On the whole a good show, which was well attended. There were new products and content from all of the major players.

It was pleasing to see new innovation for both the Gaming & FEC sector.

We are continuously investing, which demonstrates our commitment to the long-term support of the industry.

Coinslot: What products caught your attention?

Paul Monkman: Obviously Novomatic brought its latest and greatest product to the show in the form of its new Thaumic and Panthera Cabinets displaying a mix of new and classic Novomatic group content.

Similarly, Blueprint and Reflex, all had new hardware and content to offer, which is good to see as we need more choice and more diversity of product across all categories of machines for the sector as we strive to offer the best product and choice to our customers in venue.

The distributers also didn’t disappoint with SG and Inspired showing their offer on the Crown Direct stand along with a great selection of new FEC equipment.

UDC and Electrocoin also showed new FEC equipment that was fun and entertaining to play. The difficulty for us now will be deciding which FEC equipment to purchase in time for the start of the 2022 Easter season, keeping in mind that lead times for equipment remain a challenge.

Coinslot: It was the industry’s first UK gathering for over 20 months – how did you gauge the mood and what were the main talking points?

Paul Monkman: The mood, from Suppliers to Operators, was buoyant and everyone we spoke with seemed upbeat and looking forward to the coming year. Getting back to normality with business and life in general was very high on everyone’s agenda across the board.

Coinslot: Clearly happy to be back at live events, what’s on the agenda for you between now and the next UK expo at EAG in terms of new products and new projects?

Paul Monkman: At Luxury Leisure Talarius we like to keep our offer fresh and relevant. Even when we were closed during the first and second lockdown, we were busy upgrading product, out with the old in with the new, and that process never stops for us.

We currently have several big projects on the go, working with Group on content and platform developments like the imminent time and limit settings and also working with the GBG and BACTA on machine protocols and robust machine standards.

We also continue to focus on identifying ways to implement cashless technology within the industry thus allowing us to offer this facility in the ever growing cashless High Street retail environment.

As always it’s imperative that we continue to upgrade our estate to the latest hardware from Novomatic UK, SG Games, Inspired, Blueprint, to name just a few.

That’s quite a bit for us to be getting on with to ensure we start 2022 with a bang.
