The Yorkshire Section of the Showmen’s Guild celebrated the successful return of Hull Fair last week, as rides and attractions began the journey home on Friday after eight “fantastic” days for several thousands of people at the MKM Stadium.
Following a hiatus last year in response to Covid- 19, Europe’s largest and oldest travelling funfair reportedly enjoyed one of its busiest events in recent years, with organisers already planning the fair’s return in 2022.
“Thank you to everyone that took the time to visit us at Hull Fair this year, what a fantastic year it’s been, possibly one of the driest and busiest Hull Fair weeks we’ve had in many years,” said a spokesperson.
“We hope you’ve made memories to last a lifetime – we wouldn’t be here without all of you!”
HGVs carrying rides and stands were seen leaving the Walton Street venue on the morning of 17 October morning, as litter clearing teams worked to leave the site pristine.
“We wish all our showmen, The Guild, the Yorkshire Section Showman’s Guild and their families well and a safe departure from Hull, it’s been fantastic to have you back home!”
“Finally, again, we hope everyone that has visited us from all corners of the UK and in some cases from around the world has had the best time enjoying Hull Fair – enjoy the rest of 2021! See you all in October 2022.”
