Bacta’s head of finance and operations Robert Gibb is celebrating five years with the trade association, a period which has seen numerous developments and changes within the industry.
Having served in a variety of financial roles across multiple sectors throughout his career, Gibb joined Bacta as head of finance in September 2016, becoming head of both finance and operations in 2018.
“Along with my initial finance responsibilities I have taken on responsibility for the operations of Bacta’s head office and its staff,” said Gibb. “I have also had an active role in the setting up of Bacta’s new joint venture Game Payment Technology Ltd.”
Game Payment Technology, developed by both Bacta and Polar Moment, launched at ACOS 2019 after receiving Bacta National Council approval in June, has since become the go-to cashless payment system for the amusement industry.
As director of GPT, Gibb is able to draw on 37 years of company finance experience, with a career spanning both FTSE100 companies and innovative start-ups, experience which sets him in good stead for overseeing Bacta’s diverse commercial and member interests.
“It’s a challenge because our trade association combines investment, property business, trade show, self-exclusion service, Charitable Trust and now an App development and Payment Processing business.”
“However, that’s also what I enjoy most about the job and the many great people I meet – the members and the other people involved. I am looking forward to getting back out to the trade shows and meeting people face to face once more.”
