More than 6,000 emergency services personnel registered to attend Coney Beach’s upcoming Blue Light Day, with the event hitting full capacity within 24 hours of its announcement.
Revealing the plans on 22 September, the Porthcawl attraction invited all those working in frontline services to enjoy free entry along with their family from 12 till 6pm on 3 October.
“As a thank you to all of our wonderful heroes, we invite you and up to three members of your family for a free day out on us,” said the park.
“Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we have a maximum capacity of 6,000. We will be running this day on a first come, first serve basis.”
“Once we have hit our 6,000 limit, we will contact you via email to notify you that our register is closed. The park will be closed to the general public on this day. We cannot wait to celebrate with you all!”
The announcement was shared over 350 times via social media, and by 23 September the park was forced to close the application process.
“We would like to thank everyone for registering with us. We have now reached our maximum capacity. We are still working through our emails and we will be in contact with you as soon as possible to send confirmation emails.”
