East Kent Leasing Ltd has been granted permission to open a new AGC in the West Midlands town of Sandwell, as councillors look to make the venue’s location a “hub of the night time economy.”
Palace Amusements was granted a licence to open on Bearwood Road at a meeting on 23 September, with the chair of the licensing committee stating he was “personally happy” to support the proposal.
“The applicant demonstrated that they operate their business with integrity, due care and diligence with necessary systems in place to combat crime and disorder,” said chair Peter Allen.
“Written policies and procedures are in place concerning the handling of cash and cash equivalents designed to minimise the risk of crime, such as money laundering and the avoidance of illicit credit.”
“With the protection of children from harm the applicant informed us of their ‘Challenge 25 Policy’ which would prevent access to gambling by children and young persons.”
The unit is located between a Peacocks clothes shop and the British Heart Foundation on the town’s high street, an area Allen added he would like to see become a “hub of the night time economy.”
