Operators across the UK have begun preparations for Safer Gambling Week 2021, with participants keen to replicate the “huge success” of last year’s campaign.

The event will be held both online and in land based venues from 1-7 November, with Bacta, the BGC and Bingo Association all backing plans to promote responsible gaming. “Safer Gambling Week once again allows the industry to showcase its year-long commitment to safer gambling,” said Bacta CEO John White. “It also brings customer focus to the tools that are available to them if they in any way feel their gambling is becoming problematic.” “Those tools continue to grow as we learn more about safer gambling and form part of our ambition to cement social responsibility at the heart of our offer to the consumer.”

Despite Safer Gambling Week 2020 taking place during a period of upheaval, social media impressions increased 19 percent on 2019, while the number of sessions on the Safer Gambling Week website rose 18 percent.

Following the event, the number of safer gambling messages on betting websites more than doubled, while direct interventions by operators increased 25 percent.

“The week is approaching quickly. I hope members will have plans in place to support the gambling industry’s efforts to raise awareness of social responsibility tools for players.”
