Clacton Pier is to appear on BBC1 this week, five months after serving as a location for antiques experts on the popular daytime TV programme Antiques Road Trip.
Having welcomed Catherine Southon, Serhat Ahmet and the show’s crew back in April, the episode filmed on the Essex landmark will hit screens on 28 September.
“It will be interesting to see what footage they use but I am sure the Dockside Dodgems will be a significant part of the show,” said pier director Billy Ball. “We were pleased to be able to host them and the crew were delighted with the result of the filming.”
Southon and Ahmet were filmed enjoying the pier’s dodgems during their six hour visit, before strolling along the decking with candy floss on what Ball described as “a blustery Saturday.”
Though the visit marked a first for Ahmet, it proved “a trip down memory lane” for Southon who studied at Essex University.
“I remember coming down to the Pier, but it has changed such a lot since I was here last and there have been huge improvements,” said Southon at the time.
The episode is part of Antiques Road Trip’s 22nd series, and will be broadcast at 4.30pm on BBC1.
