Retro Replay has reopened after relocating to a new unit in the centre of Norwich.
The old school FEC, which opened in September 2019, has moved from being split across two floors into a larger single space. Regular visitors will not have to look far for the new location, which is across the road from its former position.
They may, however, have to wait for their first beer, with the arcade waiting on a licensing bid with Norwich City Council as it looks to serve alcohol from 6pm until 10pm each day.
“Moving 100 plus machines [was] not an easy thing to do,” said Glen McDonald, owner of Retro Replay. “It [is] a longer-term lease deal and will also work better for us having the arcade on one floor.”
While trade has been tough over the last year, McDonald hopes that his FEC will perform better as the summer fades and the Covid-19 pandemic clears.
“I do think families have been looking to do more things outdoors because of the weather and the footfall is quiet and I do rely on passing trade,” he concluded. “I also think consumer confidence is down because of coronavirus but I’ve done everything I can to make it as safe as I possibly can. It’s good value for money and you can come and go as much as you want, if you need to go and do your shopping.”
