MERKUR UK launched its 360 safer gambling programme in October 2020 – less than a year later it’s on course to have put its entire 200 venue managers and regional management team through the highly respected City & Guilds Assured training delivered by YGAM and Betknowmore.
MERKUR UK has embarked on the second phase of its extensive safer gambling training with 200 venue managers drawn from both MERKUR Slots and MERKUR Bingo undertaking the City & Guilds Assured programme delivered through a partnership between leading charities, YGAM and Betknowmore. The bespoke safer gambling training comprises ten one day online facilitated workshops with each workshop attended by circa 20 MERKUR Venue Managers.
Ian Shanahan, Head of Partnerships at YGAM explained: “This latest stage which will be completed in the autumn follows on from the successful workshops that were delivered to MERKUR’s regional managers in April. The key aspects of the training will centre on an understanding of what’s meant by customer vulnerability, understanding gambling related harm and the provision of practical coaching on face-to-face customer interactions.
“With the insight provided by lived experience trainers we will be defining the customer journey, exploring what the ‘know your customer’ philosophy entails on a practical level and providing a tool kit of skills to help the consumer facing team to know when and how to intervene with players should it be necessary.”
