An arcade and bowling alley has been targeted by a ramraid gang in Tamworth, Staffordshire. Namco Funscape Tamworth was attacked at around 2.30am on 10 August.
The gang used a stolen silver Nissan Navara pick-up to ram the main entrance doors to the building. Three men entered the property and tied a strap to the free standing cash machine, with the other end tied to the Navara. However, the strap snapped forcing them to leave empty handed.
“We had some damage done to the frontage of the site as some guys tried to gain access to the venue to try and take the ATM we have here,” said Rob Cook, operations manager at Namco Tamworth. “They were unable to but they still left some considerable damage in the process.”
Cook confirmed that while repair work is ongoing, Namco Tamworth will continue trading as normal, with just some minor restrictions.
“Significant damage was caused to the front of the business after a vehicle was driven into it. It’s not believed anything was taken but an investigation, including the assessment of CCTV, is now underway,” said a spokesperson for Staffordshire Police, adding that “it is not believed that any attempt was made to gain access” to the property’s 2p coin pusher machine.
