Martin Kemp dropped in to Mecca Bingo Rosehill on 31 July, compering an evening of live entertainment in order to celebrate both the club’s 60th birthday and his own.
The Spandau Ballet star also helped staff host a “spectacular” balloon drop at the UK’s oldest bingo club, part of the brand’s nationwide anniversary events programme.
“With my own 60th birthday coming up in October, I know how special these milestones are,” said Kemp. “I’m excited to be celebrating with Mecca, even getting to try my hand at bingo calling!”
“It’s great we’ve now got opportunities to get together again and celebrate.”
Alongside Kemp, customers were provided with entertainment by The Four Seasons tribute act the West End Jerseys, and Take That tribute band Take This.
The Rosehill celebration comes as Mecca venues across the UK host a series of events to mark the brand’s 60th, including the Missed Birthday Party on 14 August, which will see those who were unable to mark their birthday at Mecca last year rewarded with “special prizes, birthday decorations and music.”
“A Mecca survey found that birthdays topped the list of events that bingo fans missed the most during the pandemic, so the Missed Birthday event will bring back bingo, and secure Mecca as the heart of communities,” said a spokesperson for the brand.
