Electrocoin’s Skill Cut Winner is finding itself in the most elite of company, taking centre stage at a recent promotion event for the British & Irish Lions tour of South Africa.

Wales and south west operators Excel Gaming installed a prototype of the machine at a sponsored day at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff where they offered up a special signed shirt of the British and Irish Lions squad as the prize.

The machine clearly caught the attention, not least from former internationals Tom Shanklin and Andy Powell who joined the queues to play – or in their case pose – with the machine.

“We’re very close to the Lions and do quite a lot of events with the players,” explained Excel’s Ronnie Edwards who has big aspirations for the popular FEC and arcade centre-piece. “We thought we’d try something different and put a machine in the bar. We made some adjustments so we could put the shirt and rugby prizes in. And it went well and the shirt was won by a fan, so it was a good day.”

Electrocoin’s John A Stergides was delighted with the British & Irish Lions revisions. “They had to add an extra decal for the signed shirt, but Ronnie and Wesley at Excel did a great job with the changes.”

And innovation is not short on the Excel agenda with Edwards currently looking at ways to roll his set of Skill Cut Winners into new territories.

“This was a prototype and a trial really and it went well. But we want to take Skill Cut out to other markets, so we’ll continue to take on new ideas for prizes.”
