After months of being unable to open the team at MERKUR Slots in Wolverhampton had the smart idea of celebrating their first returning customers.


The team at MERKUR Slots in Wolverhampton celebrated Monday’s reopening of indoor hospitality with a socially-distanced presentation to its first post lockdown customers in the form of husband and wife team Linda and William.

The couple were greeted by the venue manager Dean Allwood who marked the occasion by presenting Linda with a bunch of flowers.

Linda told Coinslot that she was really happy to be back, describing the presentation as a ‘lovely and fantastic surprise.’ Asked how she’d coped over the last five months, she explained: “We just retired as lockdown hit and found the whole thing quite difficult – we don’t have the internet at home and so felt quite isolated. We love coming here, the venue is lovely and new and the staff are great especially Jess who is so lively and attentive. It really is a great welcome back.”

Mark Schertle, COO at MERKUR Slots believes the response is representative of a national picture with customers expressing similar emotions to those of Linda and William in Wolverhampton. He said: “We pride ourselves on providing a safe, secure and welcoming environment for MERKUR customers the length and breadth of the country. Our customers have missed the ability to simply drop in, meet with their friends, play the machines and chat with members of the venue team. I’m not at all surprised that Linda said how much she had missed the team at Wolverhampton or that she mentioned Jess by name in her interview. The vast majority of our team are on first name terms with their customers who they have a natural chemistry and rapport with.”

He added: “I am really delighted that we have been able to welcome back so many of our customers and get the team back together: there’s no doubt that it’s been a long five months – for everyone!”
