Sittingbourne’s new The Light leisure complex is recruiting ahead of its upcoming opening, with 40 new employees needed to staff the retro arcade, nine-lane bowling alley, diner and eight screen cinema.
The venue, part of the multi-million pound Spirit of Sittingbourne regeneration, will open later this month, after suffering several construction setbacks and opening delays due to the impact of Coronavirus.
“It’s been a frustrating year for us as we’ve had no income for 12 months really and no cinema has been open since Boxing Day,” deputy chairman Keith Pullinger told Kent Online.
“It’s been a very unusual project, but despite this our excitement has never waived and we think this is a really good opportunity in the town and wider area and I think excitement is building.”
The Light is currently encouraging applicants for a range of hospitality positions across the complex, including cinema staff, bowling staff and managerial roles.
“We are looking for enthusiastic team members who want to be part of something new,” said senior business manager Mil Gjoni. “We want our guests to be as excited on their 100th visit as they are on the first, that means working here isn’t just about knowledge, qualifications or even skills – it’s about heart, character and personality.”
