It’s with great sadness that Coinslot reports on the passing of NRM founder and highly respected industry innovator Paul Whitbread, aged just 65. Paul, who fought a long and brave battle against prostate cancer died peacefully on Monday May 3 surrounded by his family. Paul leaves his wife Lynn, daughter Rachael and son James.
Having being the Chairman and Managing Director of ECM Systems, Paul went on to launch NRM in 1994 more recently overseeing its successful development alongside equity partner Andrew Ludlow who he invited to join the business as Managing Director in 2012. First diagnosed with cancer in 2007 Paul’s health deteriorated 18-months ago prompting his decision to step away from the business.
Reflecting on his loss, Andrew Ludlow told Coinslot: “Paul was an entrepreneur, an innovator and a truly generous human being who was a pleasure to be around both in a work environment and socially. Contacting his many, many friends in the industry the response to the news has been both humbling and emotional. It’s clear that Paul was loved and respected in equal measure and the responses that I’ve received have referenced his humility, his kindness and his integrity.
“Less than a month ago we had a Teams call with Paul when we decided to put our resource and energy into fundraising on behalf of Prostate Cancer UK, a charity Paul was keen for us to work with. The team at NRM is in the process of planning a number of events in his memory. Paul has been an inspiration to everyone who has been involved with NRM over the years and it’s our collective responsibility to carry his fighting spirit and ‘can do’ mentality forward in everything that we do.”
