Mr P’s Classic Amusements has announced that its Maidstone AGC, Reel Fruits, will receive a makeover – subject to conservation approval.
The operators believes the centre, which is set inside a 300 year old building, is the “number one choice in the country for classic fruit machines”, and will look to retain that title despite the new look.
“We will endeavour to keep as much of the decor that gives the character, the retro feel. The famous gold ceiling will remain in place – it’s been there 35 years, but it will be repaired and repolished,” said the operator. “Our Maidstone arcade building is 300 years old in some parts and the premises was two shops historically. Some of you may not even realise that the river Len runs underneath the arcade. This is why what we do must be with taste and with care. We have been waiting for the conservation approval on the repainting of the front, which still has not been given the green light.”
While Maidstone Reel Fruits will not be reopening on 17 May due to some delayed carpet, the rest of Mr P’s venues will be back to business as soon as restrictions on amusements are lifted.
