ITV4 took viewers on a special visit to Leeds earlier this month, featuring the precision manufacturing processes of Sound Leisure as part of documentary series Made in Britain.
The programme was broadcast on 1 April having been filmed last year, with cameras following each step in the creation of a jukebox at the Sandleas Way factory.
“Filmed back in 2020 during the small time frame that we weren’t in lockdown, so much has happened since that we had almost forgotten that this filming took place,” said MD Chris Black.
“It was a huge honour to be included in the programme that is already bringing us some great new PR opportunities that will undoubtedly help spread the word about our business and what a wide and resilient sector British manufacturing is. Something that we should all be proud of.”
The programme followed the jukebox manufacturing process from design, through construction, to finishing touches, including the firm’s extensive quality control measures.
“Every box must be absolutely 100 percent spot on,” said a spokesperson on the Sound Leisure workshop floor. “Otherwise it gets turned around and it will come in here to make sure it’s absolutely perfect when it leaves.”
Made in Britain is available to stream online at ITV Hub.
