Hollywood Bowl has announced a provisional opening date for its new site, located in Colchester’s new £50m Northern Gateway leisure complex.
A premise licence application has been submitted to Colchester Council for the venue, which will also feature the bowling group’s Puttstars mini golf brand. “We are excited to bring the unique family entertainment experiences of Hollywood Bowl and Puttstars to Colchester,” said a spokesperson for Hollywood Bowl.
“We are currently in the early planning stages for each venue with a view to opening in early 2023.”
“Once complete, the exciting new venues will bring bowling and mini golf experiences to the town, featuring food and beverage, along with amusement arcades for people to enjoy.”
As well as bowling and mini-golf, the application also includes proposals to screen films, indoor sporting events, host dance shows, and live and recorded music between 9.30am and 1.30 am from Sunday to Thursday.
The submission also requests permission from the council’s licensing committee to serve alcohol 11pm and 2am Sunday to Thursday, and from 11pm to 3am on Friday and Saturday.
As well as anchor-tenant Cineworld, which will offer 12 screens, the Northern Gateway leisure complex is set to house seven restaurants, a climbing centre, and two drive-through takeaways.
