National Bingo Day is now a registered awareness day in the UK, and will take place on the 27 June, the same day as in the US.
The event will be supported by The Bingo Association, which has invited licensed retail and digital operators from across the UK bingo sector to get involved.
“Join with us and mark this special day to raise the profile of the game we love and generate mass reappraisal of this wonderful game, from both new and lapsed customers far and wide – after a very tough year for all, it’s time to put bingo front and centre in people’s minds,” said a spokesperson. “We all have a shared goal and a passion for bingo in club and online – we want to welcome more people into clubs and online – and what better way to make a comeback, than to mark a special day in the calendar and celebrate in style, bingo style.”
On National Bingo Day, all of the sector’s stakeholders are encouraged to “highlight the aspects of bingo that are truly special and the power of the bingo community both in club and online”.
Operators are being invited to organise a “fun day” for bingo regulars, and to “find new ways to celebrate, creating that winning feeling and encouraging people to think again about bingo”.
