Author and machine supplier Peter Weir is calling on members of the pub machine manufacturing and supply industry to share memories of the sector between the years of 1968 and 2018 for an upcoming book.
Having worked in the industry since 1970, just two years after Gaming Legislation was introduced, Weir is inviting memories of the people, culture, legislation, innovation, economic and social changes that made the industry what it is today.
“I have been thinking about writing a book for some time and given the number of years I’ve spent in the machine industry this seems an appropriate subject,” said Weir. “There is a great story to be told, which should include contributions and fun stories from characters in the sector.”
“I plan to arrange interviews with a number of industry personalities to explore their knowledge and stories.”
With the book covering the years 1968 to 2018, Weir is keen to talk to those in the industry on a range of subjects, including the 14 Triennial Reviews, the smoking ban for indoor public spaces, the National Lottery, MMC Beer Orders, the establishment of Bacta, and the extension of pub opening hours.
“It would be good to hear from you if you have a good story or facts relative to the machine manufacturing, or supply of machines to the pub industry.”
Anybody wishing to contact Weir to share their experience or stories of the industry can contact him on email@example.com.
