Socially-distanced crowds took to the streets of Southport on 10 February to pay their respects to the late Herbert Silcock Snr as his funeral cortege passed Silcock’s Funland.
The hearse, followed by an old six-wheeler in the Silcock Brothers livery, was met with applause from safely assembled locals gathered outside the amusement landmark.
“A big thank you to all who joined us yesterday in saying farewell to our chairman Herbert Silcock Snr,” said a spokesperson from Silcock’s on 11 February. “Gone but never forgotten.”
Silcock Snr, the third-generation showman and son of Edward Silcock Snr, passed away on 20 January aged 94, following a short illness.
“RIP Mr Silcock, a gentleman and a great Showman,” commented Steve Barton, Lancashire Area Representative of the Fairground Association Of Great Britain.
“Llandudno May weekend will not be the same not bumping into you and listening to your stories of travelling around Lancashire.”
