Paul Whittaker has announced his retirement as director of shooting arcade specialist Pan Amusements, with long-term general manager Paul Adams set to step up to lead the company.
The Oldham-based company was instrumental in introducing shooting galleries to the UK after being founded by Whittaker 50 years ago, with the future now posing both challenges and opportunities.
“It will be a smooth transition,” Adams noted to media. “The pandemic has proved challenging, with a number of our current projects currently at a standstill, but the entire industry is in the same situation.”
“We are still getting countless enquiries from around the world so we’re confident we can quickly restart once the lockdown lifts.”
Operating from Whittaker’s own home, Austerlands Mill, Pan has installed 700 shooting galleries across the globe, from Canada to Colombia, and Australia to Azerbaijan.
Adams has overseen almost 40 years of the company’s successes, having taken the role of GM in 1982, and is keen to retain the firm’s independent, family feel.
“We’re going to operate with the same team, in the same way, and provide the same great service that we have done for over 50 years, and long may that continue!”
