Two months after receiving planning permission from Newbury Town Council, High Score amusement arcade has opened in the town’s Kennet Shopping Centre.

Offering over 60 popular arcade games, air hockey tables, pinball and bigscreen Street Fighter, the arcade is stocked by local supplier Corporate Amusement Services.

“This has been a really uplifting and rewarding project for us to be involved in,” CAS director Aaron Gilbey told Newbury Today. “We think it’ll be fantastic for Newbury. Newbury needs something and we think we’ve got it.”

The arcade opened its doors on 4 December on the site of the former Prohibition bar, with CAS using its extensive for-hire machines selection to kit out the unit.

After approving the plans for High Score in October, local councillor Phil Barnett said the new venue will help to “rejuvenate the town” and could serve to encourage “a wide range of people to come in and use the facilities.”
