Web Adventure Park in York is to re-open on 5 December with the Web Winter Wonderland, an outdoor festival featuring funfair rides, a Christmas trail, and a socially distanced visit from Father Christmas.

Tickets are now on sale for the festive event at the Wigginton Road park, which will initially run every weekend, before opening every day in the weeks around Christmas Day.

“If we can open indoors we will add some dates mid-week for Father Christmas to visit,” owner Janice Dunphy told the York Press. “We are just hoping that Julian Sturdy MP, can keep us out of Tier Three when they were closing play centres automatically.”

Dunphy, who also chairs the Family Entertainment Association, said the park is currently costing “£20,000 a month simply to stay shut,” with the festive event aimed at both recouping a percentage of lost income and bringing festive cheer to local families.

Web Winter Wonderland will feature a dodgem circuit, three-storey fun house, spinning tea cups, a fairground swing, a balloon ride, and the ‘Sizzler Twister.’

The event will open on weekends from 5 December, then run daily between 8 and 24 December, and between 27 December and 3 January.
