Majestic Bingo managing director Mark Jepp hopes the news of a major £50,000 winner at his Hippodrome Club in Bishop Auckland will lead to a surge in admissions as superstitious punters look to follow in the footsteps of the lucky local 19-year old jackpot winner.
Teenager Rebecca Walton may soon be putting down a deposit on a house after she called ‘House’ when playing the National Bingo Game at the club. Speaking with local paper the Northern Echo she said: “I still can’t believe it! I was shocked and completely overwhelmed. The best bit about bingo for me has always been that I get to spend time with my mam, but I am very grateful for the £50,000, which was totally unexpected.”
“I have decided to share the prize with my mam, buy a new car and put the rest into savings for the future – we will still be coming to bingo though, that’s for sure!”
Mark Jepp added:“Of course we are all really delighted for Rebecca – £50,000 is a great prize and it’s particularly useful to have such a sum when times are uncertain due to Covid.
“On previous occasions when one of our clubs’ has won big on the National Game we have seen a local spike in admissions. I can remember when an 18-year old won a large amount in Barrow a few years back we saw new members increase by over 150 percent, so we are hoping this will have a similar impact and attract some new players into Bishop as well!”
Alastair Stewart, Business Development Manager at the National Bingo Game, said: “We are thrilled for Becca, our lucky National Bingo Game £50,000 Jackpot winner at Hippodrome Bingo. We hope that she enjoys her winnings and whatever she buys with them. What a great boost to anyone’s savings account!”
