Swan Events, organiser of the Autumn Coin-Op Show (ACOS), has announced that this year’s event will not take place due to operational restrictions imposed during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since its 2014 launch, ACOS has developed into a key event for those in the UK amusements and coin-op industries. The show is much valued as an opportunity to do business in a uniquely sociable atmosphere.

Organiser Karen Cooke has revealed that the difficult decision was taken only after an exhaustive review of all possible options.

“Current social distancing requirements mean that access to our Olympia venue would be highly challenging for exhibitors and visitors alike,” she said. “Having reviewed all other available venues and dates, it has become apparent that in the current climate we could not deliver the show to an acceptable standard and repay the confidence that our exhibitors and visitors have placed in us.”

“Crucially, the business and social networking environment that is a key feature of ACOS could not be safely delivered,” she continued. “The decision has been a very difficult one but, in these circumstances, we would rather wait and focus our energies on delivering a successful show in 2021.”

Talking earlier in the week, Cooke made particular reference to the networking dimension of ACOS and the difficulties of facilitating that atmosphere. She said: “As you know, an important part of ACOS is the social atmosphere and the chance to sit and have a drink and chat with your clients. That too would be almost impossible. You can still do these things in a larger venue but the space available in the ACOS hall just does not allow room for all of the visitors all of the time.”

ACOS 2021 will return to Olympia on Wednesday 20-Thursday 21 October 2021.
