A Derbyshire man who stole £3,000 from gaming machines while employed by Derwent Amusements in Matlock Bath has been given an 18-month community order, with 140 hours unpaid work.
Stephen Holmes was sentenced by magistrates on 7 August, and ordered to repay the figure, as well as prosecution costs and a victim surcharge.
“The offences were on 3 and 26 August, 2019, when he was found to have stolen money from two machines,” said a spokesperson for the Derbyshire Constabulary.
“When questioned, he admitted to his employer that he had stolen around £3,000 gradually, over the course of around a year.”
Following the two offences in August 2019, Holmes was questioned by his employer, before revealing the extent of his crimes which dated back to 2018. Appearing before Northeast Derbyshire and Dales Magistrates Court, Holmes pleaded guilty to charges of theft from the North Parade arcade, and will repay £3,170.
