Government minister, the Rt Hon Amanda Milling MP, certainly knows how to mix in esteemed circles. At the beginning of the week it was a tour of Powys with PM Boris Johnson, and two days later it was off to Rhyl to spend time with arcadian Craig Harker at Harker Leisure.
It was an impressive welcoming party put on by Harker, with his local MP James Davies, rising star in Welsh politics – 17-year old Jonathon Dawes BCyA, the Member of Welsh Youth Parliament for the Vale of Clwyd, family members “dad Les, mom Brenda, sister Joely, son in law Matthew”, and his hard-working staff all in attendance. “Amanda came in and I gave her a “tour” of our operation and explained the different parts of the business,” Harker told Coinslot. And it was a successful visit for the minister as he explained: “She played some pushers, won some tickets and exchanged them for prizes.”
The visit was organised by Harker Leisure’s MP James Davies who has been a keen advocate of the Harker operation and its crucial role in the Rhyl economy. “We spent much of the time talking through the games and I raised some of the issues that we as a business and as an industry have been facing,” said Harker. “And we’re very lucky in James as our MP. He has taken on board our case to government to reduce MGD to 5 percent and to look at rates relief into 2021. I know that he will fight our corner on these points.”
The Harker Leisure visit was well received all round. Young politician Jonathan Dawes was enthused by both the venue and the occasion. He posted on Instagram: “Amazing to welcome Government Minister Amanda Milling MP to the Vale of Clwyd, showing her the incredible sights of Rhyl seafront, alongside Constituency MP @jamesdaviesvoc and local Cllrs. “Our first stop, the famous Les Harker Amusements to discuss the summer months ahead as well as how they are keeping their customers safe during these unprecedented times.”
