A ferris wheel has been erected in Cardiff Bay, part of plans to recreate the excitement of the annual Cardiff Bay Beach Event, cancelled this year due to Coronavirus.
The Sayers Amusements attraction would usually form one of many rides set up beside a giant child-friendly sandy beach and shallow water play area in Roald Dahl Plass.
“As in previous years, Cardiff has hosted an urban beach within the Oval Basin,” said fair operator Norman Sayers in the planning application to Cardiff Council.
“However due to Covid-19, a decision has been taken to space visitor attractions apart at an appropriate distance. This enables the general public to maintain access to family entertainment safely.”
The ferris wheel is situated in Harbour Drive, on the site of the former Cardiff Bay Visitor Centre, and will remain in place until 25 September with customers able to take rides between 10am and 10pm.
