Blackpool Central Pier re-opened in style on 24 July, just one week after fire destroyed part of the landmark’s ride deck – including the “the best Waltzer in town.”

The fire, which began in the early hours of the 17 July, caused “devastation” for the pier, but was unable to dampen the spirit of staff and visitors set on returning to the attraction.

“We have live music at 1.30pm from The Coustics in our Terrace Bar,” stated the pier via social media, confirming the re-opening. “Come and enjoy the sunshine!”

“Due to the fire the Waltzers and our new ride the Flying Bob will not be open, however everything else is open and there is lots for the whole family to enjoy. The arcades, game stalls, bars and food stalls are all open. It’s not to be missed.”

The pier had previously re-opened on 4 July, with the fire coming as “a massive blow.”
