Family attractions could be at the centre of a new regeneration of Scarborough town centre, part of proposals by the Scarborough Town Strategy Team have revealed.

The group, formed of representatives from the local business community, was formed to help produce a £10m bid for The Future High Street Fund.

“We are doing our best to create a positive, exciting set of practical ideas for the public to consider and for everyone to give their views and feedback,” chair Sue Anderson-Brown told the Scarborough News.

“Our efforts are all about creating a welcoming street scene and an active and attractive place to spend time in every way we can.”

The team is working in conjunction with the council, contributing to the larger £25m Town Deal funding proposition.

Anderson-Brown, who is also manager of the Brunswick Shopping Centre, added the team “would like to hear public views on what we are discussing.”
