The vacant premises of Neptune’s Amusements in Herne Bay has been sold to a Canterbury- based property developer, with the seafront site set to become a five-storey commercial and residential development.

The Central Parade unit was purchased by Mile Property Group in March, four months after it appeared on the market, with the proposal for ten new flats and a high-end retail unit set to go before Canterbury City Council this month.

“The existing site is a derelict single-storey shop that has been closed for many years,” director Michael Keckes told Kent Online. “It has attracted a lot of vandals, kids and people dumping stuff on the land. By developing it all, we’re going to bring it back to use.”

“We will demolish the arcade and start from scratch.”

Canterbury City Council has previously awarded planning permission for a four-storey development on the site in 2014, however this has since expired.
