A 19-year old man has died in Scarborough, after his car crashed into Casino Royale on the town’s Sandside road.

North Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses to the event, which saw the grey Seat Ibiza leave the road at 1.20am on 15 March.

“Sadly, one of the occupants, a 19-year-old man from the Malton area, died at the scene,” said a police spokesperson.

“Two other occupants of the car, a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old woman suffered slight injuries and have been arrested in connection with the collision. They remain in police custody at this time.”

The car is believed to have been travelling from the town centre along Foreshore Road prior to the collision with the amusement arcade.

Following the incident, the road was closed to allow emergency services to attend to the casualties, as well as allow collision investigators to examine the scene, before it was reopened to traffic at 8am.

“If you were in the area at the time and either saw the grey Seat travelling through Scarborough, witnessed the collision or have any dash-cam footage of the car or the collision, please contact us if you have not already done so.”
