Nickelodeon Adventure has opened at intu Lakeside, bringing PAW Patrol, SpongeBob Squarepants and Rugrats to the Essex shopping centre.
Created by Parques Reunidos, the 50,000 sq ft indoor adventure attraction offers a range of themed zones, rides, a 4D cinema and costumed characters.
“Nickelodeon has developed a unique and highly-themed visitor attraction and we can’t wait to see the reactions of our guests as they step into Nickelodeon’s cartoons and meet their favourite characters,” said James Eels, UK director for Parques Reunidos.
“Working with intu, our aim is to bring a new range of visitors from across the south east and beyond who will shop and play in one location, whatever the weather.”
The themed zones will centre around major Nickelodeon brands, including Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and SpongeBob, alongside private party suites, a cafe and gift shop.
The “retailtainment” site forms part of intu’s £72m investment in leisure facilities, with a further 125,000 sq ft dedicated to family entertainment.
“Intu Lakeside’s leisure development has created new opportunities for brands like Nickelodeon Adventure to flourish,” said intu regional managing director Kate Grant.
“We’ve transformed one of the country’s most popular shopping centres into a major retail and leisure destination for the south east.”
