Felixstowe planners have granted Manning’s Amusement permission to break ground on the permanent site for its Beach Street shipping container retail complex.
With a selection of retailers including Monnie’s Gifts and Foofaraw Vintage having already set up in temporarily-sited units last month, the arcade will look to complete the full construction in time for summer.
“If you haven’t heard we are very excited that planning permission has been granted,” said a spokesperson for Beach Street via social media.
“Just a couple hoops to jump through and then we break ground at the end of February with opening mid-summer.”
Though previous reports had stated the development will be located on the forecourt of the iconic 1930s amusement arcade, potentially jeopardising the landmark fountain, Manning’s confirmed Beach Street will occupy the vacant lot to the southwest of the building.
“Now we have been granted planning permission the building work will commence in the next few weeks.”
