The winner of UK-wide national Bingo Game Caller of the year competition has been named.
“I’m so overwhelmed right now. I still can’t believe that I’ve won and I’m national Bingo Game caller of the year! This day has been incredible from start to finish. I want to thank everyone who came and supported me and I can’t wait to celebrate with my club. The whole atmosphere today has been electric and it’s really what bingo is all about,” she said.
The competition has not run since 2007 but has garnered a great deal of interest since its return. Callers from the length and breadth of the country applied for various regional qualifiers before the final six were eventually chosen. The final was judged by an eclectic panel including Bingo Caller of the Year 2007, Blake Robson, Miles Baron, CEO of The Bingo Association Tom Watson the outgoing Deputy Leader of the Labour Party and Lyn Staunton representing Variety.
Kunyo won £1,000 for her performance, which included a competition-winning rendition of ‘This Is My Life’ by Shirley Bassey.
