Bandai Namco has called on Pac-Man fans to join a year-long celebration of the iconic video game character’s 40th birthday, starting on 22 May, 2020.
The anniversary, marked by a new Pac-Man theme song from Japanese techno artist Ken Ishii, will see the game developer invite the public to “Join the Pac” in a series of global brand and event partnerships.
“We’re delighted to be able to celebrate 40 years of Pac-Man with our fans across the world,” said SVP of marketing, digital and content at Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe, Herve Hoerdt. “We’re looking forward to revealing everything we have planned throughout the year. It’s a testament to Pac-Man’s enduring popularity and recognition that we’re able to create a year-long series of world-first partnerships and innovations for the brand.”
Partnerships already announced include branding deals with bag designer Kipling, sportswear firm Champion, watchmaker Timex and US streetwear company Bait.
