The brand new AWP-only arcade, Mr P’s Classic Amusements in Bognor Regis, has opened its doors just 14 days after being forced to delay the grand opening slated for 2 March.

With the company citing “many technical problems” as reason for the rescheduling, fans of the old-school gaming experience were relieved to hear the new venture – one of four run by the team – was up and running.
“We have had a good few machines spiked by the resetting issue two weeks ago but we have repaired most of them,” said owners Dave and Amelia Douglas.
“It’s all been hard, especially knowing how disappointed many were – as we were – a fortnight ago. Although it feels a little uneasy announcing the opening now, I have to tell you that the most amazing classic seaside arcade is about to be born.”
The original decision to delay was evidently difficult for the pair, with both conscious that many AWP loyalists had made “extreme effort and plans to attend.”
However, one such visitor – Karl Andrew Taylor – who travelled 250 miles to be at the initial opening, dismissed the concerns.
“I’m truly devastated for Dave and the team,” said Taylor.“They were upset that they had let us, the customers, down. Should they have been? No!”
Following the announcement, the Douglases praised those who had backed the traditional venue through the difficulties, stating“ each and every one of you are stars, so let’s hope you get the bars when you visit us in Bognor.”
