Prepaid credit card firm Cashplus has announced the launch of a gambling block on its products, allowing its 1.5m current account customers to bar bookmaker, casino and gambling payments with “one click.”

The company has also introduced ATM withdrawal blocking, with credit card customers able to request blocking via telephone, to be activated the following day.
“There is a wider discussion around credit and gambling, but our role is to offer choice where customers want or need it,” said Cashplus CEO Paul Schooley.
“We believe better banking services can genuinely improve everyday life and we’ll continue to work hard on building features that make a difference.”
The decision follows calls by both anti-gambling campaigners and industry bodies for financial institutions to play their part on helping to manage problem gambling.
The restrictions can be enacted on both personal and business accounts, with Schooley adding the ban allows protections for concerned business owners.
